Averting Crisis in Ukraine...

"Averting Crisis in Ukraine," the latest publication from the Council on Foreign Relation's Center for Preventive Action. This Council Special Report, authored by Steven Pifer, comprehensively analyzes both the internal and foreign policy challenges facing Ukraine. It then recommends ways for the United States to help Kiev meet these challenges, including the question of the country's potential membership in NATO.     We must not forget the letter sent by Alexei Miller (Gazprom - Russia's gas giant)to europeans. "Gazprom is doing everything possible to avoid any disruption of gas deliveries to Europe," but further on, "However, if events develop along an unfavorable scenario, the problem of Ukranian transit will be a common problem for Russia and Europe."1
    In my opinion, this is a clear bet by Russia to tighten its grip over european foreign policy by choking its energy imports.
